The monthly virtual support group is FREE for parents/caregivers/family members. The #ParentingInAPandemic Virtual Support Group is an "open" group that welcomes every parent/caregiver seeking a non-judgmental, supportive space to establish social connection with parents during this period of social distancing. Parents are able to receive non-professional support while maintaining a sense of community among fellow parents/caregivers during this period of transition, constant change, and uncertainty during COVID.
Groups are available for parents/caregivers of Infants/Toddlers (Birth - 2 years), Younger Children (3 years - 5 years), Older Children (6 years - 9 years), "Tweens" (10 years - 13 years), Teens (14 years - 17 years), and Youth with Special Needs (6 years - 13 years). Virtual Support Session
The #ParentingInAPandemic Free Virtual Support Session is like a warm, welcoming virtual handshake from our virtual parenting coach. The consultation is a Q & A/support session that lasts up to 20 minutes and offers parents/caregivers information on ways to access resources to navigate the parenting challenges experienced during this period of social distancing and COVID.
**During the COVID pandemic, parents and caregivers are able to use this resource once a month and are encouraged to take advantage of the other FREE Parenting Resource - Parent Zone's quarterly Virtual Parenting Support Group .**
**Parents are asked to complete a brief form to provide relevant parenting information in preparation for the 20-minute consultation.
Parents can expect to:
- feel supported, listened to, and respected by one of our virtual parenting coaches
- have an opportunity to share your concerns and parenting challenges that are arising during the Coronavirus pandemic
- learn more about #ParentingInAPandemic resources and other Parents Zone virtual parenting services

"Hot Topics" Seminars: #ParentingInAPandemic Series
The "Hot Topics" Seminar: #ParentingInAPandemic is a FREE 45-minute virtual informational group session series that offers research-based content stemming from topics of interest to parents/caregivers who are #ParentingInAPandemic. This series provides parents/caregivers with the knowledge and skills useful for tackling the unique parenting challenges that are surfacing in the midst of the Coronavirus Pandemic. The topics of socioemotional development and resilience will be discussed and developmentally appropriate recommendations will be provided for parents of "tweens" and teens.
POTENTIAL "HOT TOPICS":
- grief and loss (coping with loss)
- dealing with constant change (managing anxiety)
- emotion awareness and expression (emotional health)
- staying active and activated (mood maintenance/preventing depressive episodes
- parenting in pandemic (managing parenting stress)
** Parents are asked to complete a
Parents Zone Brief Introduction Packet
and submit it to your Virtual Group Facilitator. Link to forms will be provided immediately after scheduling.
Parents can expect to:
- feel supported, respected, and empowered as a result of interacting with the virtual group facilitator and other parents/caregivers
- have an opportunity to share concerns and experienced parenting challenges in a emotionally safe and non-judgmental environment
- receive professional instruction on effective coping skills and knowledge of developmentally appropriate behaviors and effective coping strategies that infuse "Compassionate Parenting" into the practice of parenting.
